Installation of the Geo Power System

The Geo Power System is a tube-in-tube ground heat exchanger from Japan.   The outer shell is constructed of 250mm Aluminium and the inner shell is 150mm Polyethylene pipe.   The 5 meter long unit is installed vertically into a bore-hole in the ground.    Normally, this hole would be in the crawlspace, or basement, of a house, but since this is a retrofit installation, the unit was installed outdoors near the air intake for the ventilation system. The system was monitored to evaluate the seasonal performance of the system by measuring the energy contributed (winter) or absorbed (summer) by the ground.
