Electric Furnace

Broan/Venmar manufactures 25 kW electric furnaces for the residential market. These furnaces have five stages of heat, each consisting of a 5 kW resistance element. One model, called the ESH, incorporates two innovative features: electronic staged heat, and an electronically commutated motor (ECM). Working with the manufacturer, this project will compare the performance of the ESH model with the performance of a furnace that is identical except that it does not have the innovative features (the standard model).
